About

Most stock exchanges operate Monday through Friday in their local timezone. Times shown here automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time (DST) — when a country switches to DST, the UTC offset updates automatically.

Lunch breaks: Several Asian exchanges (Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen) close for lunch. Cards marked with a lunch period show the break time. Trading resumes after lunch.

Weekend closure: All major exchanges are closed on weekends. Some Middle Eastern markets (e.g., Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Israel) operate Sunday–Thursday.

Half-days: Many exchanges have shortened sessions before holidays. These are not reflected here — check official sources.

World Stock Market Hours in GMT/UTC

Each exchange trades in its local time. This table converts sessions to GMT/UTC for both standard and daylight saving periods, so you can compare markets at a glance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are NASDAQ trading hours in GMT?

NASDAQ is open 09:30–16:00 Eastern Time, Monday–Friday. That is 14:30–21:00 GMT during winter (EST, UTC-5) and 13:30–20:00 GMT during daylight saving time (EDT, UTC-4). Pre-market starts 04:00 ET and after-hours run to 20:00 ET.

What time does the New York Stock Exchange open in GMT or UK time?

The NYSE opens at 09:30 ET = 14:30 London time almost all year round. The UK and New York observe DST on nearly the same schedule, so London stays 5 hours ahead of New York except for about two weeks each year. In GMT terms: 14:30 GMT in winter, 13:30 GMT in summer.

What are Dow Jones (DJIA) trading hours?

The Dow Jones Industrial Average tracks stocks traded on the NYSE and NASDAQ, so it trades 09:30–16:00 ET (14:30–21:00 GMT in winter, 13:30–20:00 GMT in summer), Monday–Friday. Index futures on CME Globex trade nearly 24 hours, but the cash index only moves during regular exchange hours.

When do global stock markets open and close in my timezone?

Use the interactive cards above — they detect your local timezone automatically and show each market’s open, close, lunch break, and live status. Or use the Timezone Converter to check any specific market time against your own.

Which stock exchanges close for lunch?

Tokyo (11:30–12:30), Hong Kong (12:00–13:00), Shanghai and Shenzhen (11:30–13:00) pause trading midday. Most Western exchanges trade straight through the session.

Are stock markets open on weekends?

No. All major exchanges close Saturday and Sunday. Exception: Middle Eastern markets such as Dubai and Saudi Arabia operate Sunday–Thursday and close Friday–Saturday.
